Chemical Contraceptive Method

Earlier, I spoke of barrier contraceptive methods and some examples.  Also, I mentions two examples of barrier methods of contraception and the only contraceptive method is hundred percent safe sexual abstinence.  However, in this blog I will be talking about chemical contraceptive methods, which work with spermicides. Spermicides are chemicals that are placed in the vagina before each intercourse. It's function is to prevent the passage of sperm into the matrix, inactivating them before they enter the cervical canal.  It is important to note that the duration of effect is one hour. There are three types of spermicides: eggs (also called tablets or vaginal suppositories), creams or jellies and spray foam.

The eggs do not have immediate protection, should be placed at the bottom of the vagina and the protection lasts about an hour.  On the other hand, contraceptive foams and creams are recommended to be used with condoms so that their effectiveness is higher.  They are placed before intercourse taking immediate protection and its effectiveness lasts about an hour.
